Bomber Auctions Help
How Bomber Auctions works
1. Register your details
To bid on Bomber Auctions you must have a registration on the essendonfc.com.au website (you can use a Bomber.tv login, or a standard Bomberland login). Registration is free, and only takes a few minutes. If you have not registered on the website you can register here.
2. Place your bid
When you are ready to bid on an item, click through to the item main description page and enter your bid in the space provided. There are two types of bids you can make:
- Maximum bid - you can enter the maximum amount you are willing to pay for the item, and then Bomber Auctions will auto-bid for you up to your maximum amount. This is explained in more detail in section 3 below.
- Outright bid - you can enter an outright bid, which will enter your bid at the price you nominate, even if it is above the minimum next bid required.
A few things to note:
- your bid must be greater than the minimum bid
- your bid must be in the increments as stated on the item page (e.g. if the bid is currently $100 and the bid increment is $10, you must bid $110)
- bid prices are inclusive of GST (i.e. you do not have to pay GST on top of your bid price).
Once you enter your bid, a confirmation screen will appear, asking you to confirm your bid and requesting a credit card number as security for your bid. See the section on 'Credit Cards' for details on why we required credit card details to place bids on the website.
Please note: once you place a bid, it is a legally binding offer to purchase the item at the final bid price. You cannot retract your bid once it has been made. If you make a mistake when entering your bid, you must contact the club immediately (see contact details below) to request a retraction. Retraction of bids will be at the sole discretion of the club.
3. Auto-bids - bids will be done automatically up to your maximum
If you have entered a maximum bid (rather than an outright bid), the auction system will automatically bid on your behalf, only as much as is needed for you to stay on top of the bidding. The bidding will be done using the smallest allowed bidding increments.
For example:
The current bid on an item is $100, with $10 bid increments. You are willing to pay $200 for the item. You enter $200 as your maximum bid, however the system will only enter $110 as the next bid. If someone then comes and outbids you, the system will automatically increase your bid by $10, up until it reaches $200.
It may be that your maximum bid is outbid immediately by other buyers, as they may have set higher maximum bids than you. To stay in the auction, you must enter another higher maximum bid. If you are outbid, you will receive an email stating the new current bid price, but only if you have elected to receive such email notifications when you placed your bid (this option is provided whenever you enter a bid).
4. You can change your maximum bid at any time prior to auction close
You can login and change your maximum bid at any time prior to the close of the auction, but you can only change your bid to an amount equal to or higher than the current bid. You can do this even if your current maximum bid has not been reached.
For example, if your maximum bid is $200, and you hold the current bid of $150 (with $10 bid increments), then the lowest you can change your maximum bid to is $150.
Usually, however, you will only need to increase your maximum bid to ensure you stay in the auction and outbid your fellow buyers.
5. At the close of the auction, the highest bid wins
When the closing time of the auction is reached, and (if applicable) the reserve price is met, the highest bidder will be declared the winner of the auction. If the auction item has a reserve price and that price is not met, the item will not be sold to the highest bidder. In the event that two people have bid the same price (e.g. through the same maximum bid price), the person who bid the price first shall be deemed the winner.
The winner will be notified by email that they are successful, and will have 7 days to pay the successful price. The email will contain details for the successful bidder to contact the club to arrange payment and delivery.
Reserve prices
An item appearing for auction on the website may have a reserve price. This means that the item will only be sold once it has reached its reserve price. If the auction concludes without the reserve price being met, then the item will not be sold.
Any items with a reserve price will be clearly marked, and will also clearly state during the auction once the reserve has been met.
Payment and delivery
Successful bidders will have seven days to complete payment for the auction item. Successful bidders must contact the club to arrange payment and delivery, or alternatively arrange to pick up the item purchased.
If payment is not received within 7 days, the club reserves the right to withdraw the item from sale, or offer the item to the next highest bidder from the auction at its discretion.
The successful bid price is inclusive of GST. For example, if you bid $110 and you were the successful bidder, the $110 would be the final price you pay, and would include $10 GST.
As all Bomber Auctions are conducted by the club, we do not charge any buyer's premium on top of the successful bid price. The club reserves the right to introduce a buyer's premium if it deems necessary in the future.
Security - Is it safe to bid online?
All transaction details are encrypted using our secure web server. This means that only the club will see your personal and payment details, and no third parties will be able to view your details while in transit.
Authenticity
As all items are provided for auction by EFC, we can guarantee the authenticity of all pieces. Check each item listing for details of certificates of authenticity (if any).
Times
All start and closing times are in Australian Eastern Standard Time. All auction items will clearly state the closing time.
Why do you require credit card details to bid?
To ensure we only have genuine bidders taking part in Bomber Auctions, we require each bidder to enter their credit card details as a form of security. The credit card details are only required to be entered once per auction item. For example, if you bid on an item, and then place subsequent bids on the same item, you will only have to enter credit card details for the first time you bid. The credit card will not be debited when you make a bid, it is only required at that time for security. In the event that a successful bidder defaults on payment, the club reserves the right to charge the credit card that was entered when initially bidding for the item.

You can retrieve your password by completing the form here.
Can I sell my items on Bomber Auctions?
Bomber Auctions currently only offers items for sale by the Essendon Football Club. Users of the auction site are not permitted to offer their own items for sale. This arrangement, however, may change at some time in the future.
Account suspension
Your account can be suspended indefinitely (at the discretion of the club) from bidding for any of the following reasons:
- misleading or incorrect registration information
- invalid, fraudulent or attempted fraudulent use of credit cards
- bidding with no intention to pay
- non-payment on completed auctions
