Q. How do I view the videos?
A. There are two ways you can view most of the videos on Bomber.tv - either play the videos in your web browser, or download them to your computer and then play them using a video player. To play a video, simply click on the 'Play' button under the video clip you wish to view and it will be displayed in your web browser. To download a video to your computer for later viewing click on the 'Download' button under the desired video clip, and then follow the prompts on screen.
Q. What computer software do I need to view the videos?
A. Newer videos on Bomber.tv require the Flash player to view the videos online. These newer videos are also available to download in MP4 format, which can be viewed on portable devices like ipods, and also played back on your desktop computer. To view these downloaded videos on your desktop, we recommend the Quicktime video player (
download for free here).
Older videos on Bmober.tv require Windows Media Player (version 7.1 or later) to play the videos on Bomber.tv. It can be
downloaded for free from Microsoft. We recommend version 10 (PC) or version 9 (Mac) for the best results. Bomber.tv has been created to work on all major browsers and operating systems, however we recommend using the latest version of your preferred browser -
Firefox (PC and Mac),
Internet Explorer (PC),
Safari (Mac),
Opera (PC and Mac),
Netscape (PC and Mac).
Q. How long does it take to download the videos?
A. This question depends on your internet connection speed. As a very rough guide, a five minute broadband quality video clip will take approximately 40 minutes to download over a 56k modem dial-up connection, and approximately three to five minutes to download over a broadband connection. As such, most broadband users should be able to play and view the videos as they download without interruption. Broadband users on slower broadband speeds (e.g. 256k ADSL) may experience some buffering while the videos are playing (see question on buffering below), or longer download times than the estimate above.
Q. How can I edit my email alert settings/change my password?
Q. When are the videos available to download?
A. A full guide explaining when each channel on Bomber.tv is updated can be
viewed here.
Q. Why is the picture quality not as good as real television?
A. The videos on Bomber.tv are compressed to allow them to be downloaded over the current internet connection speeds. As such some of the quality has been reduced and will not be the same as real television. As broadband speeds increase more we will also increase the quality of the videos.
Q. What does 'Buffering' mean?
A. 'Buffering' means that the video player must pause while it downloads more of the video you are currently playing. The faster your internet connection the less likely you are to experience any buffering, as the video player is able to download enough of the video in advance to play in one continuous stream.
Q. I've got broadband - why does the video always keep 'Buffering'?
A. If you have a relatively slow broadband connection (e.g. a 256K ADSL connection compared to a 1500K ADSL or cable connection) you may experience regular buffering. Even though the videos on Bomber.tv are compressed down to their lowest file size, they can only be compressed so far without losing all picture quality. As such a slower connection may not be able to keep up with the video downloading to play in one continuous stream, and hence it has to keep 'Buffering' to download more of the video.
