You. Your Team. Your Leadership.
The focus is leadership, not management skills. It's based on the practical application of Australian research of what Australians expect of their leaders.
Leadership has nothing to do with your management title, the size of your office or your M.B.A. A position of management should not be confused with the gift of leadership.
- Do you understand the real differences between management and leadership?
- Have you got the balance right between them or are you too busy managing?
- Why does your leadership style work with some people but not with others?
- Have you looked 'in the mirror' lately? When was the last time you checked out your 'blind spots'?
- Are you aware of the real impact you have on your team?
- What does your team say about you in the coffee shop?
- Have you thought about what motivates you, compared to what motivates your team members?
- Do you understand why being trustworthy does not always build trust?
This is a unique opportunity for you to explore your leadership - what works, what doesn't and what to do about it. The experience is practical, hands on and results orientated.
It involves combining the expertise of Integro, with 25 years experience in helping corporate Australia develop their leaders, with the stimulation created from having access to the leaders of the one of Australia's premier sporting organisations, Essendon Football Club.
It's not about 'footy' and it's not about Essendon Football Club attempting to teach leadership. Essendon Football Club does, however, provide an excellent real life and real time leadership case study, 'warts & all'
The sport and business link
Leadership is required in sport as it is in business. Clearly successful companies and sporting teams need leaders at all levels. Essendon Football Club is in the unique position of experiencing both.
The Essendon Football Club's only real asset is its people - we succeed or fail depending on how well we recruit and develop our people, and how well they perform. Most businesses cannot say they are totally reliant on their people for success.
This total reliance on people, together with the visibility and public scrutiny that go with elite sport, makes Essendon Football Club a valuable and insightful case study to measure how good leadership ensures success, and lack of leadership guarantees failure.
What's unique about this experience?
Your learning experience will take place at the heart of one of Australia's most famous sporting clubs - the Essendon Football Club at the Windy Hill facility.
You can immerse yourself in the excitement of an AFL season while listening to, and debating with, the likes of Essendon Captain Matthew Lloyd, Managing Director Peter Jackson and other guest presenters.
You will experience the pressure of an AFL change room at half-time when you join the Bombers in the rooms during the main break of the game - a rare opportunity to witness leadership in action
The unique Integro feedback systems quickly and easily help you understand yourself and others. We hold up the mirror, allow you to look into it and understand the real impact you are having on your team.
We don't get where we want to be by fooling ourselves about where we are?
This system It allows you to compare and contrast how you see yourself versus how your team see you ? perception versus reality!
This feedback helps you understand:
- your leadership style
- factors that motivate you
- your preferred working environment
- situations you may tend to avoid
- strategies for increased effectiveness
- how you may behave in conflict situations
The key is to understand why you do what you do i.e., the motivation driving your behaviour, not just what you do.

Testimonials
Tracy Kulbars, Sales and Distribution Manager - Bendigo Bank
Attendance in the rooms at half-time of an Essendon game was a once in a life time experience. An opportunity to see that apart from their sporting abilities they face the same challenges as we do, especially when it comes to getting the best out of your team. Great course - strongly recommend we put as many potential leaders as we can through it.
Glenn Bowring, Local CEO - Moonee Ponds Local Market
Essendon Football Club are recognised as one of few leading organisations in the football industry; their on field success, membership numbers and balance sheet are testament to that. The fact that they welcome participants of the Leading a Winning Team Seminar into the inner sanctum of the club and share their knowledge about how they have developed the leadership potential deemed critical to their success is a credit to Chief Executive Peter Jackson.
The subject matter expert from Alan Veal challenges participants to recognise their own values and attitudes; and challenges participants to recognise the consequence of those on your leadership potential. The seminar is unique in that you can immerse yourself in the rich history of the club; but unique also in the profound affect it can have on the development of your thinking. It was my privilege to be a participant.
Sally Willox, Executive Director Organisational Development - State Revenue Office
You. Your team. Your leadership. was extremely beneficial and gave real in sights into leadership. The difference between management and leadership was clearly articulated and many felt that this was a key message they could use in their day to day roles. The experience was extremely well organised, packed with interesting and informative speakers and activities and set in an environment where leadership is highly visible, and demonstrated in many different ways by all involved at the club. Highly recommended to all in leadership roles.
Brad Moody, IT Shared Services Manager - Bendigo Bank
I would encourage all my peers and management team to attend this session. The more coverage we have with this type of thinking the more cohesive; the more empowered; the more productive our teams will be.
Jason McGrath CPA, Commercial Manager - Boral Ltd
Who would have thought a football club could set a benchmark for business leadership? 'You. Your Team. Your Leadership' is a is a totally relevant and absorbing analysis of leadership from a unique perspective. Often our learnings of leadership are limited to what we know; but this course offers the opportunity to apply and develop our leadership skills and awareness in a dynamic and exciting environment. For leaders present and future, this is a course not to be missed.
Paul Whytcross, Academic Products & Services - Open Universities Australia
The Essendon Football Club have hit upon a winning formula with their innovative 'You. Your Team. Your Leadership' seminar. There is no more effective model than a football club to provide insight into leadership, teamwork and self-realisation and the knowledge and skills gained over the two days are applicable not only to the workplace, but to life in general. The easily blurred distinction between management and leadership is brought into clear focus. Uniquely interactive and extremely well organised and presented - with key contributions from various leaders within the club - I cannot recommend this experience highly enough.
Michael O'Leary, Manager - Department of Education & Early Childhood Development
The program was a fantastic opportunity to see real leadership at work in an extremely competitive corporate and sporting environment. It provided wonderful guidance on the distinction between leadership and management and how this can best be implemented from both an individual and a team perspective.
I have already implemented a number of the principles and techniques with my team and would have no hesitation in recommending the program to other current and potential leaders.
