Climb the Ladder

predict the ladder

Do you think the Bombers can finish on top of the AFL ladder in season 2008? Who will win the wooden spoon this season? And which teams will be the big improvers? You reckon you know it all - then we are going to find out! Climb the Ladder is a great competition that asks you to predict the order teams will finish on the AFL ladder at the completion of the 2008 home and away season. Great prizes are up for grabs - so start studying the team lists and 2008 fixture now!

Here's how it works...

  • Website users need to predict the finishing order of the 16 AFL clubs at the completion of the 2008 home and away season.
  • Each week entrants are penalised points for every team that is in the wrong position. If a team is in the correct position you will receive zero points.
    • For example, if you have the Western Bulldogs in 12th position and they are in fact in 3rd position, you will be given nine penalty points - one point for each position you are out.
    • The position of every side will be taken into account when calculating scores.
    • Theoretically, the best possible score in a round is zero.
  • At just over the half-way point of the season, entrants will have the opportunity to change the order of their predictions between 11am Wednesday 18th June and 6pm Thursday 26th June 2008. Entrants will be allowed to change the position of only two teams during this period.
  • The entrant with the lowest score at the end of the 2008 home and away season wins.
  • Entrants will also be asked to nominate the number of goals Matthew Lloyd will kick in the home and away season as a tie-breaker question. In the unlikely event that there are two or more entrants with the same score at the end of the home and away season, the entrant who is closest to predicting the number of goals Matthew kicks will be announced the winner.

We are now just over the half way mark of the 2008 season, and the ladder is really starting to take shape. You now have the opportunity to make two changes to your original ladder to try to reduce the number of points you score between now and the end of the season. For those who entered in time, click on the button below to revise your ladder.
