Bomberland users have spoken. Our would-be Chairman of Selectors have sifted through the Essendon player list and come up with what they think is the best side the Bombers could put on the park in 2002. Users were set the task of picking the best Essendon 22 from the current senior list – Dean Solomon was not included because of his season-ending knee injury. Just over 1000 entries were received for the competition and the results were very interesting!
The bookends – Matthew Lloyd and Dustin Fletcher were the most overwhelming winners of their respective positions. Both players received 96% of the vote. Other players to gain more than 50% of the vote in their respective positions were Mark Johnson (back pocket), Joe Misiti (centre), Scott Lucas (centre half forward) and Paul Salmon (ruck). Jason Johnson and Damien Peverill were also comfortable winners in the ruck rover and rover categories respectively. James Hird received votes for a number of positions including centre half forward, centre and ruck rover but it was on the half forward flank where he was a clear winner.
