About Us

The Lawdons is a Coterie for lawyers, their staff and those connected with the law, including law students, who support the Essendon Football Club.  The Coterie was established in 1999 by Judge Tony Howard QC.  We have about 300 on our database representing all aspects of the law and legal practice - judges, magistrates, other judicial officers, barristers, solicitors, corporate lawyers, academics and others connected with the law.

Membership of the Lawdons offers a great opportunity to enjoy club activities with past and present players and personnel, but also to network with other lawyers to enhance one's professional practice or activities.  Most of all, we love supporting the Mighty Bombers!

What We Do

We support the club-wide launch of the season.  This is followed by an annual dinner, usually held at Etihad Stadium, with guest players, coaches and club officials in attendance.  Over the years, these dinners have been very well attended with interesting guest speakers and themes.  Then we hold a drinks function on a Friday evening before one of EFC's home matches.  Money raised through our functions goes to support the Club's important community activities, including the promotion of indigenous causes.

The Coterie is also available to offer support concerning legal issues to the team, coaches, board and club more generally and we provide initial pro bono assistance to supporters who want to make bequests in their will to EFC.
