From little things, big things grow...

Looking back on ‘08, one thing rings true:

As a group, the Essendon footy club took the first steps towards building a strong, competitive team, hungry for the ultimate success.

We’ve injected youth and speed into the team and begun playing a style of attacking football that all true Essendon fans will agree, is exciting to watch.

The continued development of young guns like Kyle Reimers, Patrick Ryder and Alwyn Davey, to name just a few, has given us all reason to be excited and optimistic about next season and I believe we have the building blocks in place for future success.

Let me tell you, there’s still plenty of hard work to be done but all the playing group is excited about where we’re heading.

Ultimately, the success of our football club will come down to one thing: passion.

The passion of the players. The desire to get everything they can out of themselves each and every time they pull on the red and black. The passion of the coaching and football departments to keep pushing, striving to achieve. And the passion of our fans to get behind the club and proudly tell the football world, ‘Essendon is my club!’

I hope you’ll share this passion with us again as we look forward to bigger and better things in ‘09.
