Essendon midfielder David Zaharakis has sustained a grade one strain to his quad and is expected to miss two weeks of training.

General Manager - Football Danny Corcoran said there was still a possibility of Zaharakis taking part in the NAB Cup.

“It is not a severe injury so we are hoping he will see some NAB Cup action and be right for round one,” Corcoran said.

“It is a different injury to last time but it is grade one and he will miss two to three weeks."

The Bombers open their NAB Cup campaign against Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs on February 15.
