Essendon Football Club has recorded its best ever membership result for the month of January, with the 40,000th member signing up this morning.
Earlier this week, senior coach James Hird and captain Jobe Watson joined the full playing list at Federation Square to urge supporters to get on board and become a member ahead of the team’s 2013 campaign.
“This pre-season we have asked our players for continued hard work, passion and commitment and we are asking the same from our supporters,” Hird said.
“The Club, from the Board to the players, are ensuring that they will do whatever it takes to take the team back to the top because we are all craving the ultimate success.
“The hard work over this pre-season won’t stop, but we urge our supporters to become members and join the red and black in 2013.”
The current member tally stands at 40,038, 3,000 members more than the same time last year.
