The bye round provides a great opportunity for us players to get away from the hustle and bustle of Melbourne and the club with Essendon giving us a few days off from Monday to Thursday.

Obviously the events off the field have been publicized in the first half of the season for the club and it has probably taken a little more out of us than a normal season.

On a personal note I have only played 2 games and the rest of the season in the VFL.

The mid-season break is my first for two years as I have been back and forth in the VFL and AFL squads over the last two seasons.

I found the break gave me a great opportunity to relax, refresh and just take some time away from football to rest up.

I headed to the New South Wales central coast with a bunch of guys from the footy club and we went to the beach and played some golf, so it was just nice to have football off our mind for a few days.

It also has given me time to reflect on the first half of the year, to see where I have gone well and attempt to address issues in my game that will hopefully enable me to gain senior selection in the latter half of the season.

Make sure you tune into The Hangar from 9pm on Wednesday night to see some of the action from our trip to the Central Coast.
