Essendon captain Jobe Watson has joined an elite group of players at the Bombers to win multiple All Australian honours.

Watson became just the twelfth player in the club’s history to be named two or more times in the All Australian team, since the naming of the team began in 1953.

Goal kicking champion Matthew Lloyd remains the Bomber with the most All Australian honours having been named in the team five times.

Lloyd is closely followed on the illustrious list by Brownlow Medallist and Bombers great James Hird who has been honoured four times.

Jack Clarke, Terry Daniher, Simon Madden and Gavin Wanganeen have all been named in the All Australian on three occasions.

Watson joins current teammate Dustin Fletcher with multiple All Australian awards alongside Sean Wellman, Bill Hutchison, Paul Salmon and Mark Harvey.

He also became the ninth Bomber to win the award in back to back seasons after being named in the centre in 2012 and on the interchange bench in this year’s team.
