Essendon players will return to training later this week at a new home to begin their 2014 pre-season campaign fresh from a post-season break.

The first to fourth year players are due back at the club's new facility at the High Performance Centre to begin their pre-season training on Wednesday.

Among those returning will be Dyson Heppell, Michael Hibberd, Joe Daniher, Nick Kommer and Mark Baguley.

Heppell who finished third in the Crichton Medal will be back for his first official session at the club since foot surgery late in the season cut short his 2013 season.

High Performance Manager Justin Crow said he was expecting the players to be primed for training when they returned on Wednesday.

“The first few days will consist of an induction to their new training facility which is really exciting for the group,” Crow said.

“They will be doing screening and fitness testing before getting back into full training later in the week.”

New recruits Shaun Edwards and Kurt Aylett will enjoy their first official day in the red and black after being traded to the Bombers from Greater Western Sydney during the recent exchange period.

Also hitting the training track for the first time will be rookie Johnny Rayner who last week joined the club under the Alternate Talent program.

The remainder of the playing group will return to training on November 18 before a group heads to a high altitude camp in Boulder, Colorado from November 30.
