Essendon Football Club wishes to advise Dyson Heppell will be sidelined from training this week after suffering back spasms.

Heppell received medical treatment this afternoon and as a precautionary measure will be rested from all training duties this week.

Club doctor Bruce Reid said he expected Heppell to be back in full training early next week.

"Dyson had a back spasm this morning and is pretty restricted in his movements," Club doctor Bruce Reid said.

"He will have a scan this afternoon but we do not expect there to be any major issues."

Heppell is likely to return to training next week and is expected to be available for the upcoming NAB Challenge clash against Gold Coast on February 17 at Metricon Stadium.

Please be advised Heppell will not be able to take part in the club’s Community Camp visit to Benalla this week.
