In the lead up to the 100th anniversary of the landing in Gallipoil in 2015, Essendon Football Club have teamed up with the Tour of Duty team to bring the ANZAC Run to Melbourne.

The 5km and 10km running events will be held on Easter Monday 21 April at 8am.

The Tour of Duty team has a strong relationship with the Australian military, police and fire fighting services that has been reflected in past events such as the Tour of Duty Relay in 2010 and the Tour of Duty Cycle in 2013.

This year, the ANZAC Run will give the general public the opportunity to run alongside both current and ex-servicemen and women.

Such an event allows Victorians to welcome home retuning troops and to thank them for their efforts in defending our country.

“Essendon has always been a professional club and knows how to embrace ANZAC day, its values and the ANZAC spirit,” said Director of the ANZAC Run Paul Ritchie.

With the Anzac Day blockbuster match between Collingwood and Essendon at the MCG only just around the corner, we are calling all Essendon supporters to Don the Sash and take part in the ANZAC Run to commemorate such a historic event in Australia’s history.
