Neil Craig has outlined his vision for the club’s football department to become a world-class environment for coaches and players to perform in.

Essendon’s General Manager of Football Performance revealed on this week’s episode of The Hangar what he hopes to achieve over the next few years.

“The vision I have for the Essendon Football Club in terms of the football department is to be highly world class in its functionality,” Craig said.

“What that means is it gains a reputation that when people come to Essendon there is an understanding that they will grow and be able to maximize what they are going to do.”

“We want people outside of Essendon to say how did they do that, how can we get involved with Essendon.”

Craig said the club should be a place where players and coaches alike strive to work at.

“If they come to Essendon as coaches they know that they will get great education and will be able to be the best coach that they possibly can,” he said.

“Players will have a reputation that if you get recruited to Essendon as a player that they will maximize your playing ability and treat you with resepct.”

“You will grow as a person and when you exit the game you will exit with dignity and have a plan in place about life after footy.”

Craig understands the hard work that is ahead in the club to achieve what he would consider ‘world class’ standards.

“We are a long way away from that vision at the moment but if you ask me what my vision is then that is what it would be and what we are talking about there is world class,” he said.

“World class, so people from overseas want to come to the Essendon Football Club and find out how do you do that?”

“Once you get that then you are starting to motor.”
