Injured Essendon midfielder Alex Browne is continuing to progress well from a knee reconstruction he underwent in February.

Browne injured his knee in the club’s pre-season NAB Challenge game against Gold Coast.

The 21-year-old said he was fully focused on being prepared to tackle day one of pre-season training for the 2015 season.

“The positive about the knee is that I did it so early in the year so I know I am out for the whole year,” Browne said.

“I can focus on day one of pre-season next year, there is no real time frames, there is no rush with me now.”

“I don’t have to rush back for anything so it is just going to be about the way I feel and it is up to the doctors and physios.”

Browne said his rehabilitation program had been a slow process but all was going to plan.

“It is pretty stock standard at the moment and has been a pretty slow process obviously,” he said.

“If the doctors are happy then I am happy and it seems to be going pretty normally.”

He has described the struggle of watching his teammates take to the field while he is sidelined.

“It was definitely tough early, especially watching them playing that becomes the worst part of your week,” he said.

“There is a few other guys out for the year more recently so we rally together and get it done together in the rehabilitation group.”

Brown re-signed with the club on a new one-year deal following the injury, a sign of the faith the club has in his ability.

“It shows a lot about the football club,” he said.

“It is good to be able to go through rehab now knowing that you are going to be there next year.”

“I thought about it early on but for the club to do that so early on in the piece is something that I will never forget.”
