Essendon forward Travis Colyer is confident his side can continue to hone their game plan against Carlton on Saturday afternoon at the MCG.

Colyer said he was excited about Saturday’s clash with the Blues heading into a potential finals campaign.

“It is just another opportunity for us to put some good footy in place which is what we have been working on,” he said.

“We are never going to play the perfect game of football but it is doing everything we can do to put the structures and game style in place that we are trying to play.”

“Carlton has obviously been in pretty good form so it is not going to be easy but I think if we can play the way we have shown we can it will hold us in good stead.”

Colyer has played an important role in the Bombers forward line set up in recent weeks.

“At the start of the year when we lost one of the ruckman then Joe and Jake had to help in there it threw things around,” Colyer said.

“We have a good balance of the talls, smalls and midfielders that can come through.”

“Not just in the forward line but across the field we have guys that can play in multiple positions.”

“Having experience playing in different positions later in the season is another thing that can add some flexibility to our side.”

The 23-year-old has enjoyed his most consistent season at AFL level this year playing the last nine games in a row.

“It is something I have tried to take on by having a specific role and being able to bring something to the team,” he said.

“Not just trying to be a one position player and I just want to really have an impact in the side when I come in.”
