Essendon midfielder Brent Stanton is confident in his team’s ability to perform more consistently heading into his fourth final series in the red and black.

From his four finals matches Stanton has played in just one winning final back in his first season in 2004 against Melbourne.

The 28-year-old has faith in his side’s capabilities to perform in Saturday night’s Elimination Final against North Melbourne.

“We have the first week of finals which is an exciting time for the Football Club to be a part of,“ Stanton said.
“We have to focus on our training during the week to get right the things we didn’t execute well (against Carlton).

“Hopefully we can put up a good four quarter performance this week. I think that is going to be the main thing, looking at a four quarter performance.”

Stanton said the inability to consistently perform at the required intensity level for a full game was a frustration among the playing group.

“We just didn’t execute what we need to for a whole four quarters,” Stanton said.

“You can see when we do it is quiet powerful and we really enjoy it out there.”

“Unfortunately we are a bit immature at the moment and hopefully we can fix that up.”

“It has been a focus all year to try and get that for four quarters.”

“That is probably what we have been frustrated at as players and coaches that we haven’t been able to put it together for four quarters but hopefully we can do that next week.”

The hard running midfielder will take some strong form into Saturday night’s clash against North Melbourne after a 24-disposal performance against Carlton on the weekend.

Stanton has a strong record against North Melbourne averaging 22 disposals a game from his 11 matches against the Kangaroos.
