Essendon’s line up will be bolstered by the return of midfielder David Myers for Saturday night’s elimination final against North Melbourne at the MCG.

Myers was a late withdrawal from Saturday’s draw with Carlton due to suffering from the flu.

Club doctor Bruce Reid said the 25-year-old had overcome any serious symptoms and would be fine to take his place in Saturday night’s side.

“David had not the Essendon flu but the real one,” Reid said.

“He had high fevers that came on late last week and he is better today so he will be fine.”

Myers has been important through the Bombers midfield this season averaging 21 disposals from his 17 matches.

He is also ranked number 1 at the club for effective long kicks highlighting his ability to penetrate most defensive outfits.

Defender Mark Baguley is also set to line up against North Melbourne despite a heavy knock in the dying stages of the draw against Carlton.

Reid said all precautions would be taken with Baugley but indications he would be right to play were strong.

“He got hit by the old friendly fire of Stants knee and had a really nasty laceration,” Reid said.

“He had a minor concussion, he didn’t lose consciousness but he got a fair whack but has come up really well.

“All the thing that matter to us are things like headaches, tiredness and fatigue but that is all clear.

“We will do the computer test on him today and he will need to pass that to play.”

Jake Carlisle has been ruled out of Saturday’s finals with his hamstring strain to keep him on the sidelines for at least another week.

“He did have a little incident so we had another MRI which was at the lowest end,” Reid said.

“We did follow up with an MRI which has virtually cleared but it is stupid to play him at day ten.”

A number of players have gone in for season ending surgery this week in the hope of being ready for the start of 2015 pre-season.

Tayte Pears (shoulder and achillies), Johnny Rayner (ankle) and Shaun Edwards (shoulder) all had surgery over the last fortnight.
