Essendon will have five players attend the Brownlow Medal Evening at Crown Palladium on Monday night.

Jobe Watson, David Zaharakis, Dyson Heppell, Joe Daniher and Cale Hooker have all been invited to attend the prestigious ceremony.

Heppell is among the favourites to take out the award after a standout season in the absence of captain Jobe Watson.

The 22-year-old said he was looking forward to going along and just enjoying the evening.

“I will be pretty cruisy and certainly not expecting to go anywhere near it,” Heppell said.

“I am looking forward to the night because it will be a good celebration of the year to share with teammates and it is good to catch up with players from other clubs.”

Heppell’s current captain Jobe Watson was the last Essendon player to win the award when he took out the honour in 2012.

The young gun, who is a proven vote getter, finished second to Watson in the Brownlow count last year with ten votes in just his third season in the AFL.

The Brownlow Medal is the leading individual award in the competition, which has been awarded since 1924.

Voting for the Brownlow Medal is conducted by field umpires, immediately after each home-and-away match, with three votes awarded for the player they believed to have been the best on the ground, two votes for the second best player and one vote for the third best player on the day, in their opinion.

The 2014 Brownlow Medal Vote Count will be telecast live on Fox Footy from 6.30pm and Channel Seven from 8.15pm. Red Carpet Arrivals will be aired on Fox Footy from 6.30pm and 7.30pm on Channel Seven. (All times in AEST).
