Essendon is hopeful of playing against traditional rivals Collingwood, Richmond, Hawthorn and Carlton at the MCG in season 2015.

The league is set to release the 2015 fixture on October 30.

The Bombers blockbuster against the Hawks is a sell out at Etihad Stadium each year with 44,163 fans attending this year’s clash and 49,505 the 2013 encounter.

Chief executive Xavier Campbell said the club had notified the AFL of its fixture preferences for the upcoming season.

“We have put our requests into the league about what we would like our fixture to look like in 2015 and there is a key focus on playing against our traditional rivals at the MCG,” Campbell said.

“Over the last few seasons we have been scheduled to play against Hawthorn at Etihad Stadium and we are hopeful that a move to the MCG will attract a big crowd."

“Taking on broad feedback from a number of key stakeholders in particular our fans we are very open to playing more football in the Saturday afternoon timeslot.”

Campbell said the club was focused on improving the fan experience and making the footy easily accessible for all Essendon fans.

“A key priority for the club in 2015 is to work with the league to make going to the football more affordable and accessible for our fan base.”

“We want to create a uniquely Essendon experience at every home game and provide our fans with more value and better entertainment."

“There are a number of exciting initiatives already in the pipeline including enhanced technology and connectivity at both Etihad Stadium and the MCG next season"

Essendon will kick off its 2015 campaign against Sydney at ANZ Stadium on Saturday, April 4.
