Essendon young gun Zach Merrett was a key part of Melbournian’s experiencing the Indian culture on Saturday at Federation Square as part of the Diwali Festival of Light 2014.

Federation square came to life with diverse stalls and activities on hand to explore the different traditions, cuisines and crafts from India.

The 19-year-old recently joined David Zaharakis, Dyson Heppell and Joe Daniher on a trip to India to spread the club’s community legacy.

Merrett spoke to the crowd on Saturday about his recent experiences on the trip and urged the community to get behind the Bombers in 2015.

There were demonstrations of traditional Henna painting and classical Indian and Bollywood dance performances and workshops.
