Essendon Chief Executive Officer, Xavier Campbell, has welcomed the AFL’s new ticketing initiatives, declaring the changes a win for the club’s supporters.

Campbell said Essendon supporters with young families were the clear winners, with free entry for children on Sundays.

“Free admission for children on Sunday is a fantastic decision,” Campbell said.

“The club is playing four home games on Sunday’s in 2015, and with that in mind we’ve been working on a number of exciting new family-friendly initiatives to improve the Essendon match day experience for Mum, Dad and the kids.”

“Most importantly, free entry for children will allow our younger supporters to come and watch their heroes perform amazing feats week in, week out.”

The key 2015 ticketing changes at the MCG and Etihad Stadium for Essendon supporters include:

  • Free entry for children (under 15) to all Sunday 2015 Toyota Premiership season matches at the MCG and Etihad Stadium
  • Price freeze on all General Admission tickets (adults $25, concession $17, kids $5 – excluding transaction fee)
  • General Admission tickets available at all MCG and Etihad Stadium 2015 Premiership season matches
  • No fully reserved seat matches at the MCG or Etihad Stadium (except Anzac Day) across the 2015 Premiership season
  • Reduced transaction fees for online tickets for Etihad Stadium matches (reduced from $7.00 in 2014 to $2.50 in 2015)
  • Lifting of match classifications at MCG and Etihad Stadium matches
  • New online ticket search tool available on the AFL and club websites
  • Prices set collaboratively by both the AFL and all 18 clubs

Campbell believes the freeze on general admission prices and the return of general admission entry to Essendon home games, is a huge win for fans.

“Our commitment is to our fans. We want to provide them with affordable pricing across all games next season, including blockbuster matches.”

“Casual ticket sales are still a fantastic way for supporters to support the club financially, with all gate receipts coming back to the club.”

“However, the best value for our supporters who want to attend regular Essendon home games in 2015 is still to purchase a membership.”

The 2015 Ticket prices for Essendon home games are still being finalised and will be released early next year.
