Essendon Football Club will honour its past players who served the country in the defence forces by wearing a specially designed Anzac Day Guernsey.

The red sash will be made up of the symbolic flower of remembrance, the red poppy.

The poppies will recognise the 20 known Essendon players who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.

The red poppy sash will be narrower and curved, just like the jumper worn in 1915 – the year of the Gallipoli landings. 

All 233 Essendon players who have served our country will have their names inscribed on the body of the jumper.

The Anzac Day Rising Sun logo features on the front of the Guernsey while the Essendon WW1 era heritage logo is on the back of the neck.

A picture of a lone soldier playing the bugle is on the inside of the neck, as well as the ode of remembrance with ‘Lest We Forget’ written on the hem.
