After three rounds in the VFL, several Bombers have played themselves in line for AFL selection with some sold performances.

Will Hams was the first VFL Don to be elevated after his stunning round one performance, while youngster Kyle Langford followed suit and made his AFL debut against the Saints on the weekend.

We take a look at some other names that you might like to keep and eye on this week leading up to selection this week.

Elliot Kavanagh

Kavanagh is on the right track. He’s already had AFL experience and continues to show he has the ability to step up to the next level. Kavanagh had 19 disposals against Casey, which included five marks and four clearances, signaling he’s definitely on the radar. A monster 10-tackle game on the weekend also highlights his improvement in his defensive side, which will please senior coach James Hird.

Nick O’Brien

O’Brien led the team with 31 disposals on the weekend, and looked to be everywhere. He’s already got the size to match it in the AFL and has had a taste at the highest level. The 21-year-old’s leadership qualities continue to impress at VFL level.  He could play anywhere if elevated after experience at both ends of the ground and through the midfield on the weekend.

Ariel Steinberg

This guy continues to be a ready-made defender that can easily slot into the AFL backline. Week-after-week Steinberg leads the VFL defence with his courageous approach and impressive aerial skills. Steinberg racked up 19 disposals and took nine marks, including six rebounds from the defensive 50. Probably the only thing holding this guy back is that Cale Hooker and Michael Hurley are playing so well.

Shaun McKernan

The former Adelaide Crow has begun his career at Bomberland in the VFL and has impressed many. His work ethic and desire to improve has impressed coaches to date. The versatility of the big-man could be paramount to his elevation to AFL level after gathering 18 disposals, including five clearances and he managed 12 hit outs. If Hird is looking for someone step up and assist Bellchambers, McKernan could be the man.
