Paul Chapman is an unlikely starter for Essendon this Sunday against St Kilda.

The three-time premiership player missed last week’s match Hawthorn because of a groin complaint.

“We made a decision last week that he’d do two weeks rehab where we just let it settle,” Club Doctor Bruce Reid said.

“It has been worrying him for a number of weeks so we will not put him out on the track properly in full training until next week.”

19-year-old Orazio Fantasia also missed the match against the Hawks with a groin problem.

“He’s got a slight strain,” Dr Reid said.

“He’s running well this week but he will need an extra week.”

David Zaharakis and Heath Hocking have recovered well following their returns in the VFL, while Nick Kommer is set to play a full match this weekend after getting through three quarters against Port Melbourne.

Midfielder David Myers could return this week as he nears a comeback from a shoulder injury.

“He will play possibly this week or next week, he's doing very well,” Dr Reid said.
