Zach Merrett is in doubt for this weekend and potentially the remainder of the season after pulling up sore with a foot injury.

The Bombers midfielder reported some discomfort following the match against the Western Bulldogs on Sunday.

“Zach played a good game and came off and reported a bit of a sore foot which he’d never had before,” Club Doctor Bruce Reid said.

“A few hours later he was very sore.

“His MRI shows a significant stress reaction in one of his metatarsals.

“If that shows a crack on CT, then that will be the season, so we’ll find that out in the next couple of days.”

Merrett has been one of the Bombers most consistent players this season.

In just his second year in the AFL, he’s played every game and is averaging 22 disposals and six tackles per match.
