Essendon VFL is still a chance to finish top-four with the final round of the home-and-away season to play out this weekend.

To finish fourth the Bombers would need to win their game against Richmond this Saturday and hope Footscray loses its match against Werribee on Sunday.

‘We’ve got to beat Richmond first,” VFL Co-Coach Mark Corrigan said.

“Hopefully we can take care of that on Saturday, and if we do, we put ourselves in a position to possibly make top-four depending on results.”

Regardless of the ladder position, the playing group holds a strong belief that they can play deep into September action.

“If we end up finishing fifth, or wherever it may be, it’s still not impossible with the boys we’ve got and if we play four-quarters of footy we’re a good chance,” Corrigan said.

Richmond is expected to be a tougher opponent than its ladder position suggests playing its final game of 2015.

The Tigers sit 13th on the VFL ladder.

“I think it will be a tight tussle,” Corrigan said.

“They’ve still got some quality players and a few back this week, plus it’s their last game and they would want to finish on a good note.

“We’ve got to be ready to play four quarters and come with the right attitude.”

With the first bounce at Windy Hill taking place at 1pm on Saturday, make sure you get along and support the VFL side in action ahead of the AFL later that evening.
