Essendon VFL Captain Marcus Marigliani will make his return from injury in this Sunday’s Elimination final against Casey.

Marigliani has managed just two games since Round 12 due to a groin complaint.

“It’s fantastic to have him back,” VFL Co-Coach Mark Corrigan said.

“He hasn’t had a good run with injuries of late, but he will bring great leadership, great experience and he’s been there before so he knows what it’s all about in finals.”

Marigliani will be a welcome addition to the Bomber defence.

“From a football perspective, he plays down back and he’s a great defender and a really good ball user,” Corrigan said.

“At times if we don’t have the momentum during the game he will be able to compose us and he always hits targets and is clean with the ball.”

The young VFL Dons are certain to draw upon the 29-year-old’s finals experience, which is set to be a crucial weapon.

“In terms of being a leader and bringing his experience, he will be able to get around the younger guys and keep them composed and making sure that they’re ready to compete,” Corrigan said.
