Essendon has recalled Kyle Langford for its final game of the season.

The 18 year old has played seven games this year after he was picked with the Club’s first selection in last November’s National Draft.

“He’s forced his way in to the team a few times,” Interim Coach Matthew Egan said.

“We wanted to make him earn his spot when he came in.

“What we tried last week in the VFL was a bit more midfield (time) and he was sensational there.”

Langford picked up 25 disposals and took eight marks in the VFL last week.

“Sometimes as a half forward it can be a really tough spot to get involved in the game,” Egan said.

“We’ve spoken about getting up the field a bit more as a high half forward and just contributing in the game.

“He was great last week and he’ll play around the ball and half forward again.”

Tayte Pears, Alex Browne, Shaun Edwards, Ariel Steinberg and Jason Ashby have also been named in an extended squad for the match against Collingwood.

The final 22 will be named tomorrow.
