The VFL Bombers are confident ahead of their Elimination final against Casey Scorpions this Sunday.

It’s the first time the VFL Dons have played finals since 2013 when they finished eighth.

“Everyone’s very excited,” VFL Co-Coach Mark Corrigan said.

“They’ve worked hard to get themselves into this position and they’re looking forward to it.”

The Scorpions took the points when the sides met earlier this season, but past results will mean nothing when the teams square off on Sunday.

“They beat us in our last game against them, so we will be looking at that carefully but know that finals is a different ball game,” Corrigan said.

“We’re a completely different line up to what we were and we’ve learnt a lot from that.

“I think from that specific game I think we will be looking for a bit more accountability and trying to arrest that momentum this weekend.”

Casey’s talented on-ballers will make for a tough midfield battle, with the match-ups set to be a significant factor to the final result.

“I think we will still be playing our own game and be aggressive in there,” Corrigan said.

“But we understand that they will have some quality rucks, so they will get first use at some stage.

“It’s about our midfielders being able to defend when they need to, and also play our game and be aggressive as well.”

The winner of the match will progress to play the loser of the Qualifying final between Box Hill/Footscray next weekend.
