7th May 1975 – Essendon player Ken Fletcher and wife, Rosemary, welcome a baby boy.  They name him Dustin. 

3rd April 1993 – At 17 years of age, Dustin plays his first game for Essendon while still at school.  He has six possessions and five hit-outs against Carlton.  The match ends in a draw.

During the season Fletcher is nominated for the Rising Star Award.  The honour is given to Nathan Buckley, now Coach of Collingwood.

Buckley retired at the end of 2007.

3rd July 1993 - Fletcher misses the Bombers match against Brisbane to play school football with Penleigh and Essendon Grammar.

25th September 1993 – Fletcher plays in Essendon’s Grand Final winning team.  He has 13 possessions as the Bombers beat Carlton by 44 points.

26th March 1994 – Fletcher kicks his first goal for Essendon in a three-point win over West Coast.

30th May 1998 – In his sixth season, Fletcher plays his 100th AFL match.  The Bombers beat Hawthorn by a goal.

2nd September 2000 – Fletcher wins his second premiership medal as the Bombers lose only one game en route to a ten goal Grand Final win against Melbourne.

The fullback also picks up the Best and Fairest award that year and is named in the All-Australian side.

22nd July 2001 – After the Bombers come from 69 points behind to beat the Kangaroos, Fletcher is fined $600 for shaking the goal post.

2nd August 2003 – The Bombers beat Carlton by 34 points in Fletcher’s 200th game.

16th July 2004 – Fletcher loses his two front teeth in a collision during a marking contest as the Bombers lose by 44 points to West Coast in Perth. 

2005 – Fletcher is named in the International Rules side.  He plays as goalkeeper in four series against Ireland and is named Co-Captain of the side in 2006.

2007 – For the second time in his career, Fletcher is named in the All-Australian side. 

2nd May 2009 – Essendon loses by 43 points to Brisbane in Fletcher’s 300th game.  He is 33 years old.

16th April 2011 – In another draw against Carlton, Fletcher at age 35 runs down Carlton’s Jeff Garlett as he nears goal in the dying stages of the match.

21st March 2014 – Fletcher becomes Essendon’s games record holder when he passes Simon Madden’s previous mark of 378 matches.

4th April 2015 – At 39 years of age and 333 days, Fletcher becomes the second oldest player to play in the AFL.

25th April 2015 – On a wet Anzac Day, Fletcher shows he’s still capable of launching a long bomb, kicking a goal against the Magpies from 65 metres out.

7th May 2015 – Fletcher turns 40.  

30th May 2015 – Fletcher plays his 400th game against Richmond.

4th  September 2015 – After battling injury for most of the season, Fletcher announces his retirement.
