Brent Stanton’s consistent form has been one of the highlights of Essendon’s second half of the season.

The midfielder has averaged 30 possessions per game across the last eight rounds.

“I think his second half of the year has been outstanding,” Interim Essendon Coach Matthew Egan said.

“He’s really important for the team.”

Now in his 12th season in the AFL, the 29 year old has played 247 games.

He has played at least 15 matches every season and averaged 22 possessions per game across his career.

While he’s been a regular fixture in the Dons midfield for most of the last decade, this season has seen him take on a new role.

“First half of the year he played mainly on the wing but second half he’s played his role really well at half-back,” Egan said.

“He sees the game really well, he’s a great leader.”
