Here is how the papers are covering the latest trade talk.

The Age

St Kilda is exploring ways to turn pick five into two first round selections – then use one to secure Jake Carlisle.

Adelaide and Gold Coast shape as the clubs most likely to break the impasse.

The Crows have picks 9, 13, 28 and 32.

If the Suns land first round picks for Charlie Dixon and Harley Bennell they could end up with selections 3, 10, 16, 19 and 22.

The Saints could trade pick five to either of those clubs for two of their top choices.

But The Age says Adelaide is unlikely to trade picks 9 and 13 for pick five alone.

It also says Essendon could scuttle the Saints plans by trading pick four to the same club.

Essendon has made an offer to Matthew Leuenberger.  Brisbane has three days to decide if it will match the offer.

The Bombers and Melbourne are close to finalising a deal for Jake Melksham.

The Herald Sun

Essendon and St Kilda could enter mediation over the Jake Carlisle deal.

Former Hawthorn Recruiting Manager Gary Buckenara says pick five is a fair deal.

The Saints have offered pick 24 for Carlisle but understands they need to improve the offer.

Carlton and the Western Bulldogs remain interested in Carlisle.

Essendon's offer to Matthew Leuenberger may not be enough to trigger a second round compensation pick for the Lions.
