The Bombers took some calculated risks on draft night but were well pleased with what they walked away with.

Highly rated teenagers Darcy Parish and Aaron Francis joined the Club via the Bombers two top five selections.

Running players Alex Morgan and Mason Redman were secured in the second round.

While Mitch Brown, Yestin Eades and Michael Hartley were picked up with later selections.

“A huge relief – that’s probably the best way to describe it,” List and Recruiting Manager Adrian Dodoro said.

“We rolled the dice a little bit with our strategy and it paid off.

“We got the speed in the mids early, and then later in the draft we were able to get another really exciting player in Yestin Eades, and we got the two tall key position players that we needed some depth in.

“So a really good, balanced draft for us, we’re really excited.”

Parish was the best young midfielder on the open market and has a well-rounded game.

Francis is taller and more of a key position type, but with the versatility to play all over the ground.

The selection of Morgan and Redman addressed specific needs identified by the Bombers.

“One of the areas we wanted to rectify was our run in between the arcs,” Dodoro said.

“Run and carry was pretty important, metres gained players."

The Recruiting team will decide today whether they’ll use a pick in the pre-season draft and how many rookie draft picks they intend to use when that selection meeting takes place on Friday.
