Aaron Francis, Alex Morgan and Yestin Eades are beginning to find consistency as they string more games together.

The trio were all noticeable in Essendon VFL’s come from behind victory against Werribee last Saturday, with Coach John Worsfold pleased with what he saw.

Fans would have been particularly inspired by Francis’ performance with the youngster showing his versatility, having an impact at both ends of the ground.

Having struggled through an injury interrupted year, the 18-year-old had one of his best games to date kicking three goals as well as playing a crucial role across the backline.

Despite the positive performance, Worsfold is still hesitant to rush Francis into the senior side believing he will benefit more from additional time with Essendon VFL.

“At this stage of the year, and for where he is at, we just want him to get through games to build his fitness,” Worsfold told Bomber Radio.

“We know how well he reads the game as an intercept marker in defence, but we are definitely aware that he has played forward at state level in the U18s and played really well.

“He’s a very versatile player.

“Matty Egan is definitely aware that Aaron can go either end and as required, I think we might see it happen a bit more often.

“He was outstanding.

“He’s been showing us his talent as a defender anyway, and showed his ability to swing forward and play really well up there.”

Worsfold was also pleased with the progress of Morgan and Eades.

Morgan has also had a trying start to his AFL career, with niggling injuries restricting the amount of game time possible for the youngster.

He has, however, been able to find greater consistency in the last few rounds – playing well off the half-back line and through the middle.

Eades has had the best run out of the trio and is making solid development in his progress as a dangerous goal sneak.

The 19-year old kicked two goals on the weekend, taking his tally to 12 from ten games in what has been a positive learning curve for the youngster.

“Yestin is tracking along reasonably well,” Worsfold said.

“He’s been able to string games together for a while now, he’s still learning his role within the team and coming along pretty well.

“There’s some stuff in Yestin’s game that he’s going to keep working on, but we’re really pleased with his progress.”
