Fresh from agreeing to a new deal Mason Redman is eyeing off a return to the senior side before the end of the season.

Redman has agreed to a new deal that will see him remain with the Bombers until at least the end of 2019.

The 18 year old was selected with the 30^th overall selection in last year’s National Draft and made his AFL debut in round seven against Sydney.

“It’s a great show of faith by the Club, obviously being a new player I’m really happy to be signed on,” Redman said.

“I’m really enjoying it and hoping to crack back in to the seniors soon.”

Redman has split his time between the seniors (three games) and the VFL (11 games) this season.

He said Development Coaches Mark Corrigan and Paul Corrigan had played a key role in his progression this season and he has enjoyed playing under John Worsfold and VFL Coach Matthew Egan.

“Woosha has been really good for me.  I can go to him and talk to him about any issue or questions or queries that I’ve got,” he said. 

“Ego is exactly the same – he’s been really good for all of the boys, so everyone is really enjoying working with those two coaches.”

Redman is one of six draftees to make his debut this season and is part of an emerging group of young players gaining valuable exposure at senior level. 

Darcy Parish and Orazio Fantasia have picked up Rising Star nominations this season, Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti and Kyle Langford have become regulars in the senior side and Aaron Francis made an impressive start to his career last Sunday.

“It is really exciting with the likes of Darcy Parish and Aaron (Francis) made his debut on the weekend so I think the next few years are going to be an exciting few years for the Club,” Redman said. 

“Hopefully we can get a few more wins in the seniors – we’ve been showing some really good signs over the past five weeks. 

“With the VFL hopefully we can get to the finals and take it deep into the finals and maybe win a flag.”
