Essendon VFL suffered a narrow loss to Footscray on Friday night at VU Whitten Oval.

Joshua Begley was impressive, stopping the run of Footscray multiple times, laying six tackles and taking four marks.

 

Kyle Langford was named in the best for the third time of his last four games. He finished with 26 disposals, five marks and one goal.

James Ferry created multiple tunrovers in defence, taking nine marks and finishing with 16 disposals.

In his third game back from injury, Aaron Heppell finished with 13 disposals, two marks and three tackles. 

Heath Hocking was again a major ball winner for the Dons. He was impressive through the midfield with 29 disposals, two marks and three tackles. 

Jake Long was among the best on Friday night. The wingman collected 17 disposals, took six marks and laid three tackles.

Matthew Leuenberger dominated through the midfield. The ruckman took four strong marks and laid five tackles. 

Shaun McKernan starred in the forward line. He booted four goals, taking his season total to 15.

Forward Alex Boyse was strong overhead, taking two marks. He kicked one major, his season total of 17 is fourth in the running for the Frosty Miller Medal. 

Mason Redman collected 10 disposals. He took three marks and laid two tackles on Friday night. 

Brent Stanton had a strong performance in the midfield. He finished with 16 disposals, three marks and two tackles. 

Alex Morgan used the ball well, he took four great marks and finished with 16 disposals.

18 year old Dylan Clarke starred against the Dogs, he collected 13 disposals, took five marks and laid two tackles.
