Essendon forward Cale Hooker says this year's Bombers are the "hungriest" side he has ever been a part of and can "dare to dream".

Since a shock loss to the Brisbane Lions in round 15, Essendon has responded with two strong wins over Collingwood and St Kilda, highlighting how dangerous the side's best football can be.

"I think it's definitely the hungriest I've seen a group since I've been at Essendon, and that really excites me, because guys are so keen to improve and willing to learn and get better, and that's only going to hold us in good stead," Hooker said.

"You always dare to dream. We know that anything is possible.

"We're seeing how open the season is and we're really confident that our best is really good."

The key forward said the last fortnight had shown that the team was starting to jell after inconsistent stages throughout the year.

"We've shown throughout the year that we've had patches of really great footy and then some inconsistencies, and the last fortnight has been a lot more consistent," Hooker said.

Hooker has booted 27 goals this season and only been held goalless twice, and said the forward group has made "a lot of strides together".

"I've really been enjoying coming back and working with the young forward line," he said.

Hooker said he and star forward Joe Daniher had been learning from each other and developing a strong partnership.

"We work together out there and our chemistry is getting better every week," he said.

"We're not running into each other's space as much and I think we're complementing each other pretty well."

While the 2014 All Australian defender is enjoying his time as a forward, he said it's been good to help out in defence at various stages in the season.

"It's always good to say 'hi' to the defenders again," he said.

"The coach throws me back there when he feels it's the right time, and I'm happy to do that if it's what the team needs, and it seems to be working well for us at times for me to slide back and give a bit of support there."

Hooker spoke at Etihad Stadium to promote its collaboration with VicHealth to encourage fans to drink the free water available at the ground.
