Essendon Football Club’s latest recruit, Trent Mynott, was put to the test on Friday with a 2km time trial in his first week with the Bombers.

The midfielder endured his first fitness test of the season with fellow teammates at Tullamarine.

Mynott said he enjoyed the challenge of the trial.

“I went okay, didn’t run too well but it was a really good experience,” Mynott said.

“I will work on my fitness and hopefully bring that 2km time down and then work on my contested ball work, improve on that. It is one of my stronger points but the better I can be, that will really help my game.”

The 18 year old is one of four draftees the Bombers picked up this year, with Jordan Houlahan, Matt Guelfi and Brandon Zerk-Thatcher completing the pack.

“We have formed a really good bond between the new draftees, it’s been really good and it’s been great to get to know all of the other boys,” Mynott said.

“I knew Dylan Clarke and Josh Begley before I came so they have helped me out a fair bit and I’m staying at their house tonight because it’s easier than driving back to Lysterfield, where I’m living at the moment.”
