BTV: The Home of the mighty Bombers The home of the mighty Bombers.

The home of the mighty Bombers, will officially be known as, The Hangar.

Essendon Football Club has proudly unveiled the new name of its high performance training and administration facility.

Members were given the opportunity to decide the name via an online vote on the Essendon website and The Hangar was the clear winner.

Club legend, Kevin Sheedy, said The Hangar was a fitting choice for the Bombers home base.

“I love it, The Hangar is the perfect name for our facility” Sheedy said.

“It’s our home, a meeting place for everyone in the Essendon family to come and experience together and feel connected with the Club.

“We are extremely fortunate to be in a position to forgo a naming rights sponsor thanks to the generosity of a number of our long term members.

“We now have a new name and identity synonymous with the mighty Bombers.

“The Hangar also celebrates the unique design of our facility, and plays on the history of our nickname, the Bombers.”

The Hangar name has also been incorporated into a bold new logo which will be proudly displayed at the front entrance of the Club, overlooking the main training oval, on signage around the ovals, and most prominently on the wall of the indoor training facility.

CEO, Xavier Campbell, said the expansion and redevelopment of The Hangar precinct was close to being signed off.

“The Hangar is a place we want our players, coaches, staff and members to continue to be proud of, and we are excited to announce we are in the process of finalising an extension to our elite training facility,” Campbell said.

“With the recent addition of our VFLW program, and aspirations to have an AFLW team we need to grow to ensure all four teams have access to the best facilities possible.

“The extension will also celebrate our rich heritage, create a unique experience for our members and supporters to enjoy, and create a welcoming precinct for our local community.

“We are also discussing the best way utilise the surrounding land to create alternative revenue streams which will help the Club grow its non-football assets.”
