Round 12 – Essendon 19.17 (131) d Port Adelaide 8.13 (61)

Essendon bounced back from two straight losses with a dominant 70-point thumping of Port Adelaide in its biggest winning margin of the year.

Cale Hooker and Joe Daniher displayed their power in the forward line with five goals each and Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti backed them up brilliantly with four cracking majors of his own.

McDonald-Tipungwuti nearly raked in the mark of the year, but couldn’t quite hold onto the football as he launched into the air.

However, he did settle for one of the goals of the year as he raced around Port’s Hamish Hartlett and finished off with a clinical banana.

Zach Merrett (38 disposals and a goal) and Dyson Heppell (34 and a goal) were formidable in the contest, while Irishman Conor McKenna showed his blistering speed with 22 disposals off half-back.
