Rd 17 – St Kilda 7.15 (57) d by Essendon 17.16 (118)

Joe Daniher starred as Essendon romped away from St Kilda to record a crushing 61-point win after a seven-goal third term.

Daniher booted four goals on the night, but it was his eventual Mark of the Year over former teammate Jake Carlisle that stole the show.

Tom Bellchambers dominated the ruck contest with 26 hit-outs and two goals, helping midfielders David Zaharakis (32 disposals and two goals) and Zach Merrett (37 and 10 tackles) take control in the midfield.

Subsequent All Australian Michael Hurley (27 disposals and a goal) and NAB AFL Rising Star Andrew McGrath (23 disposals) were sensational in defence.
