Michael Hurley has been selected by Kane Cornes as a member of AFL.com.au’s team of the week.

The key defender was picked at centre half-back in the team after a terrific game against Port Adelaide in Essendon’s stirring 22-point victory on Sunday.

Hurley dominated the game in the back half, sweeping throughout the backline to gather 29 disposals, 15 marks and eight rebound-50s.

He also topped the AFLCA coaches votes from the match, polling eight votes from John Worsfold and Power coach Ken Hinkley to claim the honours.

Bombers teammates Dyson Heppell (six), David Myers (five), Brendon Goddard (three) and Zach Merrett (two) also featured in the votes.

Hurley was selected as an All Australian for the second time last year and his outstanding form has rolled into the start of the 2018 season, with the powerful defender averaging 26 disposals from four games to date.
