Gun Essendon midfielder Devon Smith has been nominated for the Coates Hire Goal of the Year.

The nomination comes for the ex-Giant’s outstanding dribbling goal from the boundary line against Gold Coast on Saturday, where he gathered the ball impressively and showed terrific evasion to make enough space to guide the ball home.

But it wasn’t just Smith’s sublime skill on show, with Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti’s brilliant shepherd playing a key role in the goal.

Sydney’s Lance Franklin and Geelong’s Tom Hawkins join Smith in the nominations this week, and you can make sure he secures his spot in the running for the major award by voting for his goal below.
