In the lead up to Friday night’s highly anticipated Crichton Medal count, BomberTV catches up with General manager of football operations Paul Hamilton to preview the hot favourites set to stake their claim for the best and fairest medal.
Reviewing the year of utility Heath Hocking and Michael Hurley, Hamilton said the pair were likely to poll well on Friday night.
“They're two players that will definitely be up there,” Hamilton said.
“The way the both of those boys go about their business, they're uncompromising, real competitors and it comes out every time those two play.
“This year, Heath has played more of the run-with role and he's always been in the contest playing hard, strong football so he should poll very well."
Hamilton said adaptable Hurley is also a strong chance to attract the votes tomorrow night.
“It was a terrific year for 'Hurles' and almost his best year so far. We all know he has a lot of potential but the way he attacks the ball is magnificent," he said.

"He's become a very reliable player for us, playing either down back or up forward so I think that will attract the eye of the coaches so I do expect him to come home pretty strong tomorrow night."
Hamilton said he was looking forward to what he predicted would be a close count on Friday night.

"I'm very excited because I'm sure it's going to be a very close count and I think what you will find is that a large group of younger players will come through and take spots in the top five or ten."

Will the club give us something extra to cheer about,at the Crichton. Wonder if the club will give us the news,Hurley has extended his contract. There is usually one piece of news, they keep for the night. Will this be it. Diane
I.E. who is out of contract at moment and who is about sign up would be greatful for reply..
Don't think Hurley will win it but he will. When he is fully fit he is going to be something else. I still like him as a CHB because it gives him more of the ground to 'create', but as long as he is in the team is okay. When I see Hurley I am reminded of Ross Glendinning. Back or forward he was a champ. Both as tough as tungsten. He looks like the type of bloke who would do anything for his mates/team. I have every confidence he will stay at Essendon.
Hope you stick around Welshy, gun bloke. Well done and thanks. Still a few sit down, face to face chats to come Jimmy. Should at least see Ricky and Henry safe for now.
EI, how does Crameri get promoted to the playing list from the rookie list, do we use one of our picks in the natioal draft to promote him ?
Hope you are right Diane, re Hurleys' contract. Heath & Michael have both been very strong, reliable players for us, both put themselves on the line for the club. Good Luck all. Have a fun night Diane. Cheers all, Gail
Thanks for a great career, Woosha. I wonder will Steven Spielberg sound you out for his team now.
Hurley is a gun, and I believe he will bring home a brownlow sometime in his future! EI, Sorry for my impatience but are we going to get Essendon's take on yesterday's Herald Sun's news about Jenkins & Hocking's AFL fines for selling grand final tickets on twitter and this morning's news about Welsh retiring sometime soon?
Before you post your answer EI, I apologise, I just noticed the Hocking/Jenkins story and Welsh's retirement just came up after I posted the last query.
Top 3 Zaharakis, fletcher & Heppell.. in any order.
I really hope we negotiate well in this trade period I think we're a serious chance of getting a gun. Go dons!
Be great to see our famous number 31 get the medal tonight..He to, has had another stellar season..and also deserves more recognition than some give him..He is a LEGEND..
