Essendon Football Club is mourning the loss of Maxine Corcoran, who passed away this week, aged 57.
Maxine, wife of Essendon people and development manager Danny Corcoran, was diagnosed with a brain tumor six weeks ago and sadly lost her battle on Tuesday.
Essendon coach James Hird said the Essendon family had lost a truly wonderful person who will be deeply missed.
“Maxine was so cheerful, happy and enthusiastic about life,” Hird said.
“She was a wonderful mother of three and dedicated wife to Danny who shared a passion for sport and coaching athletes.”
“On
behalf of the Essendon Football Club, our thoughts and prayers are with the
Corcoran family during this challenging time.”
Maxine was a 400m relay bronze medalist at the Edmonton
Commonwealth Games in 1978 and was heavily involved in grass-roots sport as a
coach at Glenhuntly Athletics Club and Caulfield Grammar and was operations
manager for the Sport Australia Hall of Fame.
