Flight Plan hits $500,000 before Christmas

Essendon Football Club would like to thank its members and supporters for helping the club's Flight Plan fundraising initiative for the club’s new facility at Melbourne Airport reach $500,000 before Christmas.

A total of 1956 donors have contributed to the project since the Flight Plan was launched in August this year.

The club is expecting to commence works at the Melbourne Airport site in mid January next year and aims to have the ovals built in time for the start of the 2013 pre-season.

That's a fantastic end to the year, good target to meet........ now we need to add a couple more zero's and 40,000 more members and we'll be there. Definitely do-able. My savings are building, I'll be there in January. On track Bombers. GOOD STUFF !!!

People should consider the option of donating in installments - I have. This means that you can drip-feed without any big hit on your pocket at any one time. This won't suit everyone but perhaps some people are not aware that you could pitch in $10 every month or two for a while - its a few cups of coffee!

That is a good positive post Bob, and sadly I have to agree with Victor. The club isn't asking for a huge amount from its 700,000 or so members/barrackers, but please give something if you can, this project can only help our club.

I issue a challenge to all Bomber Members & Supporters to donate to Flight Plan, & to build this Great Facility for the Greatest Club in the Game. I have already donated as some of you have, but as I get a few more $$'s together I will "kick the can" some more, so let's get "pumped" on this Great Adventure Bombers,let's DO IT.

Let's get this target rolling in the new year, I wonder if the club can have collector's or a temporary office at our home games as I would drop some cash in.30,000 members at a home game donating for example $10 each time would soon add up.

A nice milestone to reach before Xmas. If 1956 donors equates to $500,000 than logically 19560 donors will see us over the line with $5,000,000. With 50,000 members surely this is achievable. Or am I just dreaming? hoping?. Come on Bombers lest us have a big push towards the target after the Christmas season and prevent our club from taking a loan to fund this facility. GO BOMBERS!

I have faith that our total will rise in the New Year as peoplee recover from Christmas spending. The hype of the new season will drive to donations further and imagine if we win our first 4 or 5 to Anzac day. I agree Alan that 20,000 donations will get us close, and with 50,000 plus members, this should happen.

Agree Wes. Once the hype of the season starts up it will / should start coming in. Memberships should be a priority first, must stay above 50. Dobby's well-to-do mates from the medclub will have sorted most of the flight plan total by then - precious....

Not angry Bill,just will be always on his case,and he knows it... And will be watching with baited breath for the "promise back up" with the flight plan donations from he and "all the mates".... very interesting... might still end up that zero too,judging by past promises... Go Bombers!!

This is not a pmoise, nor is it anything to take too seriously. But Essendon Football Club are my "TEAM!!!" andI plan to have "MY OWN FLIGHT PLAN" for them in 2012!!! But I head everyone to carry on supporting this great team in every single way possible as my 2012 resolutuin is Essendon top 4!!! - Jono Bailz!!!!!!!!
