Flight Plan nearing $500,000

Essendon’s Flight Plan fundraising initiative for the club’s new facility at Melbourne Airport is approaching the $500,000 mark, with the official donations barometer hitting $485,737 this week.

A total of 1855 donors have contributed to the project since the Flight Plan was launched in August this year.

Essendon chairman David Evans said he was pleased with the fundraising effort so far.

“On behalf of everyone at the club, I’d like to say thank you for the incredible generosity and support we have received from our members and supporters in 2011,” Evans said.

“We are extremely grateful to have received so many donations towards the project and let’s hope we can reach $500,000 before Christmas.”

The club is expecting to commence works at the Melbourne Airport site in mid January next year and aims to have the ovals built in time for the start of the 2013 pre-season.

It was only $50 but I made my contribution, if everyone who could afford it did the same essendon would have the money needed to build the facilities that would take us to the next premiership . . . that to me is worth much more than $50, come on guys let's be apart of something great, let's back our team!!

This is so very sad that out of 50000+ members and a whole lot of supporters (possibly another 50000) ONLY 1855 people to date have seen it fit to donate to the new faclility and assist the club in its quest for improvement. Really not sure what the thinking is when one has a chance to be a part (even if it is tiny) of this clubs history they choose not to. I do realise times are tough but the current numbers are staggering. Hope Bomber members, supporters and fans can reassess after Christmas.

Bomber supporters lift your game! Richmond & Melbourne raised this much money in one night!!! $20/member and we will have another million!

Don't fear Doel,it will stay open for at least another 25 name changes, and of course until bob makes his first payment..delay has been on deciding which name it will go under, and for finding a hat big enough on ebay for the name selection raffle...Seems a bit quiet on this whip around, after boasting about organising the you know what and when... Should be running for the next federal election, will turn the country around, ole "trust me,I'm legit" Davies.. I think also, similar to Alan, that the early months of 2012 will be healthier for the Fund.. :-) Go Bomber Fans, when you are able to help with this "once in a lifetime cause" Cheers All :-) :-) :-)

Still good effort to come up with that much so far though my wife and I donated cash at the start of this campaign and now after Christmas might as well do it again. Come on people get behind them and go bombers

Pathetic! To all those supporters who say they love the EFC - donate! For a great club like ours - the total should at least be around $1,000,000.

I chose to have my donation taken from by bank in 4 installments that way it wouldn't hurt too much at one time. I wonder whether the pledged amount to the club (in my case $100) is a better figure than the received amount (in my case $50)?

Not pathetic Victor. There is not a rush on this. Lets get Xmas out of the way. For me personally, I am looking forward to either an open training day or the family day. It is good for the kids and nice to hand it over in person. While you wait, the kids run amok in the Bomber shop, get the numbers on the jumpers. Each to their own, do what you can when you can fellow Bombre's!

One happy family aren't we dob?
