Essendon’s rehab group is progressively decreasing in size, after a number of players returned to modified training programs earlier this week.
General manager of football operations Paul Hamilton said key position players including Stewart Crameri and Kyle Hardingham were progressing well with their post-season recovery.
“Overall, we’re pleased with how a number of the players are tracking, particularly at this time of year,” Hamilton said.
“Our medical and fitness teams are implementing training regimes to ensure the injured players are carefully monitored but are able to get some workload into them.
“Stewart Crameri is progressing well with his recovery and has been able to do most of the training apart from contact work," he said.
Versatile defender Kyle Hardingham continues his recovery from a shoulder injury and is making steady progress.
“He is on a modified training program but is progressing well. We have been conservative with his rehab with his shoulder, but we want to ensure a full recovery and he is on track with that,” Hamilton said.
“He is able to join in running activities but he is on a modified skills program.
“Alex Browne, who strained his right quad a few weeks ago, is tracking well and is undergoing personalised recovery programs with the rehab group,” he said.
Hamilton said key runners Jason Winderlich and Courtenay Dempsey are also tracking well with their ACL injuries, after the pair recently resumed modified training regimes.
“It has been a long road for Jason and Courtenay but we are happy with where the two are at. They are both tracking well and building up their fitness base for the challenge of the season ahead.”

Alex Browne big year coming up as he is now from officially the best junior devt club in the country. 7 players taken in 2011 draft - 3 in first round pciks by sheeds. what great coaches and mentors they must have.
Essendon is so terrible at managing injuries that the entire list may as well be on 'modified' programs. Hell, they all pretty much are, cannot stand hearing how players even like Zaharakis have to manage how they play there game to avoid season ending injuries that could blow up at any moment!
I'd love to see Licka & Dempsey come back bulked up, they've had plenty of time! Nice to hear that things are tracking well, but we're not likely to be told anything else right? Good luck boys, Pris you're not forgotten mate and let's get ourselves up, fit & firing for 2012!!
Spot on Luke. Hopefully the new guy will rectify a very bad past.
Sick n tired of using injuries as an excuse over the past 4 or 5 years. It has been an extraordinarily bad run, and here's hoping the tide is turning. You can understand the odd 'freak' injury or the occasional muscle strain, but when it becomes systemic it becomes a scourge on a club.
Even if we have a 'league-average' injury performance next year, I can see the Dons finishing in the top 6 with 13 or 14 wins. I'm just fed up with injuries undermining the potential of this team! Fing ers crossed hey?!
oh Ralph, you are after my little heart.. my bobby would have said that..bobby..? ralphy ? Is that you..? who..? Think i'll go and share a box of jumbos with bobby..err roel at Warrawee Park..love em... go you bombers train hard !! Go you purple and golds..err blue and reds..err red and blacks..thats it !! Think i have had a seniors moment, take me home carbery...
That is Gumbelton in the picture Michael Burton but more often than not they use an old photo to go with a new story. Not sure why but they do. Hope it is not the case this time and that all those boys in the picture are actually training and up and running.
At last, light at the end of the tunnel, the boys in the picture look a tad stronger, around arms and chest, can anyone shed some light on the young bloke behind Stewart crameri, i don't recognise this one, but all systems are go, even gumby looks fit, now all we need is another year like 2000, injury wise, that would make the Blues skip a beat, and put them back where they belong.
That's young Ariel Steinberg Max,think around the height of 191-192 cm... :-)
I'm sure I read in the second half of this season that the club would conduct a review of the excessive number of injuries we suffered this year. Has that reached a conclusion and, if so, what were the recommendations ?
This photo was used on an article a couple of weeks ago, but I assume it was current then. That being the case, it's good to see Crameri, Gumbleton and Winderlich running, the muscle on Howlett, Heppell and Steinberg and is that Hibberd running near the back? If so, welcome back. I think Dean Robinson is already having a big impact.
I didn't see any report on Tayte Pears, hopefully that means he is no longer carrying any injuries.
That is Hibberd back,I think we missed his run of the backline badly at the end of last season, can't wait to see him back in 2012.
How do we know they are really training?
With no one allowed to know who or where we are training at anytime, sounds fishy, maybe we sold all our players for magic beans and no one wants us to find out?
Rookie Matt jones from Labrador he's training with the dogs 23 year old midfielder
no good looking huge around arms and chest, if they are not also working legs and core, that is where all strength and power comes from. arms and chest are called "beach muscles" for a reason
Part 2... Sorry Max,think you might have meant the other chap behind Crammers..!
By his training gear,he is not a current listed player,so must be on the training staff.. The pic by the way,was a previous training session as Alan & Wes have suspected, the date Nov 9.. this year :-)
We missed Licka,Demps,Pris and Gumby (he was seviceable 2010).With these inclusions, more muscle, new inclusions,we will be a far better club.I want us to stick it up all those other clubs.
What is Mark Jones on about? Surely he doesn't mean we should show some disrespect to an Essendon great. That would be just too crass.
Thanks Noel, big tickets on the young man, first time, i have had a look at him, but have no doubt i will see a lot more of him, i have some pretty strong feelings about next year, and the last time i had similar psych, was 2000, but absolutely refuse to watch cricket, while Clarke is captain, all summer boring, bring on 2012 season, my membership was sent the day after recieved, 3 weeks ago.
Strength & power also comes from experience & time! Good to hear all is going well!
Reading the story in today's herald sun I realised it's time to get my Essendon membership. The club is committed to the best people training our players & they need every dollar we can put in to get us back to the top!!!!It's a bit of a stretch as I am also an MCC member, but I told the family this is my Christmas present as I have to back Jimmy,Bomber & the club.Go you Mighty Bombers!!!!
Max Rodwell, good to hear your comments mate. I have just returned after 12 weeks in Vic. Sad news, old mate Murray Rodwell funeral Canberra Nov 30. They had the Bombers theme song playing at the Chapel. Look forward to a huge Bombers year, and sharing the goss.
You have been missed Graeme,'though Max & Bill amongst others have performed magnificently while you have been away.. Go You Mighty Bombers :-) :-) :-)
